- 4-6 bratwurst sausages
- 1 can 12 oz of beer (lager or pale ale works best)
- Optional: 1 medium onion sliced, 1 bell pepper (sliced)
- Optional toppings: Mustard sauerkraut, or your favorite sauce
Marinate the Brats: Place bratwurst sausages in a bowl and add beer. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes to develop the flavour.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Before you begin anything else, preheat an electric fryer with a metal basket or container at 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
Raise the heat to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150°C) for twenty minutes if you are cooking more than eight brat sausages.
Cook the Brats: Put the beer-brined sausages into an air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through to ensure both sides cook evenly.
Optional: Add Veggies: If adding onions and peppers, toss them in a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Add them to the air fryer basket with 5 minutes left on the cooking time.
Serve: Remove the brats from the air fryer and enjoy them with your favourite toppings.
-
For a crispier texture, increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
-
You can also baste the brats with the beer marinade halfway through cooking for added flavor.
-
If you're making a large batch, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
-
Pair with a side of vegetables or a salad for a more balanced meal.
